Tribe Fan Theme List Released for Boys Basketball

Student spirit leaders release list of boys basketball game themes

At Fairfield High school, school spirit is a big deal, and nobody does it like the Tribe.

The Tribe is a team of 10 senior students who lead the student section at any sports games. They help make sure every athletic game is exciting.

And when the Arena lights come on this Friday for the first home boys basketball game, the stands won't just be filled with cheering fans; they'll be filled with teal and purple.

The Tribe has officially released the full list of fan themes for the 2025-26 season, and the first game doubles as one of the school's 988 Suicide Prevention games (which uses purple and teal as its theme colors).

The Tribe, guided by adviser Matt Tyla, meets weekly to brainstorm ideas, and this year's theme-picking session came right after school on Wednesday. According to Tribe member Addison Borg, the meeting moved fast, loud, and creative.

"We sat there for about 20 minutes coming up with like 50 ideas for themes," said Borg. "We yelled out our favorites and gave our opinions to narrow it down, then got Mr. Tyla to approve them."
The finalized schedule includes a wide variety of fan favorites and new concepts: Y2K, Camo, Christmas, Superhero vs. Supervillain, Jersey night, Neon, Adam Sandler, Greek Gods vs. Greek Life, College Night, Valentines, and many more. Each home and away game has a designated theme, giving students something different to look forward to each week.

But before any of those nights arrive, the season opens with this Friday's teal and purple game, one of the most meaningful events of the year. The tribute to 988 is designed t0 promote awareness for suicide prevention and emphasize the importance of mental health, making it a powerful way to start the season.

As the Tribe prepares to lead the stands again, they hope the new themes will boost energy, creativity, and student involvement. With everything from pajamas to blackout nights on the calendar, there's no shortage of opportunities for students to show up and show out.
