Fairfield's girls volleyball team has jumped out to a quick 2-0 start, leaving the Indians currently at the top of the Greater Miami Conference in non-conference play.

On Thursday, the squad held off a pesky Edgewood team, winning 3 sets to 1, with scores of 30-28, 23-25, 25-18, and 25-23.

Leading the Indians was returning senior All-GMC Athlete of the Year Kennedy Ostendorf with 27 kills and 16 digs. Sophomore Reagan Draper had 17 kills.

Leading the team in digs was junior Peyton Smith with 20. The Indians, coached by Jessi Grimes, next travel to Lakota West on Tuesday and to Harrison on Thursday.

They return home Sept. 2 to play Goshen. For more photos of the Edgewood match (plus a team shot of the JV squad!), go to fairfieldindians.com/galleries.
