Fairfield Football Defeats Lakota West

Indians Pull Off 10–7 Thriller | Weekly Warpath | Homecoming Game Review

It may have been labeled an upset around the GMC, but to Fairfield, this was just business. In a hard-hitting defensive slugfest, the Indians battled toe-to-toe with powerhouse Lakota West and came out on top, 10–7, in front of a fired-up homecoming crowd at Alumni Stadium.

Head Coach Justin Roden's culture of toughness, discipline, and relentless effort showed up in every snap. The Indians didn't blink, didn't back down, and when the game was on the line – they delivered.

    OFFENSE FINDS WAY
In a game where every yard mattered, Fairfield's offense dug deep. Freshman Corrius "Choocho" Booker carried the load with 21 bruising runs for 56 yards, wearing down a stout Lakota West front. Junior Mason Wheeler added 21 yards on 7 carries, keeping the chains moving in key spots.

Senior co-captain Dom Back made perhaps the most critical play with a tough rushing TD, reminding Tribe Nation what leadership looks like. And when it came down to one kick, junior Hunter Gagan drilled a game-winning field goal with 1:50 left, sending the crowd into a frenzy and sealing the Indians' biggest win so far.

DEFENSE MAKES STATEMENT
The Fairfield defense played with fire and purpose, holding the vaunted West offense to just 200 yards – a performance to be remembered for years.

Senior leader Gabe Ross was everywhere, piling up 13 tackles, 2 tackles for loss, and a forced fumble. Junior Stone Butler stepped up with 6 tackles, a tackle for loss, and a huge interception that shifted momentum. In the trenches, senior JT Traore made his presence felt with 4 tackles, a tackle for loss, and 2 QB hits, while junior co-captain Kobe Lewis added 7 tackles and 2 QB hits to keep the Firebirds off balance all night.

This wasn't luck. This was Fairfield defense – disciplined, physical, and relentless.

WHAT'S NEXT: LAKOTA EAST
The celebration won't last long. Next Friday, the Indians travel to Lakota East in another key GMC showdown. Momentum is building, but the work is far from over.

Fairfield needs Tribe Nation to bring the energy on the road. Pack the stands, wear your red, and make some noise – the Indians are proving that they belong at the top of the GMC.
