Farewell: Fairfield Softball Closes Season, Salutes Seniors

Fairfield's softball season has come to a close, finishing 8-19 overall and 6-12 for 7th place in the Greater Miami Conference.

The season ended with a 9-2 loss to Oak Hills Friday in the first round of postseason play.

Senior Aurora Wallace finished the year with the GMC's highest batting average at .539. She finished third in RBIs with 37 and tied for 6th overall in home runs with 5.

Freshman pitcher Addison Harris finished 10th in ERA with 5.84, with sophomore Cori Moore finishing 11th at 7.30. Harris was 10th in the league with 60 strikeouts.

For team statistics, senior Adelyn Huey led the team with 37 runs scored, followed by Wallace with 33. Wallace had 55 hits, followed by Huey with 40 and junior Korah Hill with 35.

Wallace smacked 14 doubles, followed by Hill with 7 and Huey with 6. On the base paths, Wallace had 14 stolen bases, followed by 8 apiece for Hill and Harris and 6 for Huey.

On May 11, Fairfield celebrated its graduating seniors.  The seven players and their post graduation plans are:
  • Summer Botts, #18: Christ College of Nursing and Health Sciences to study diagnostic medical sonography
  • Addy Huey, #2: University of Rio Grande to play softball and study primary education to teach math
  • Mikee Lawson, #3: Ohio State University to study neuroscience
  • Madison Miller, #16: Wilmington College to play softball and study business administration
  • Natalie Parker, #4: Slippery Rock University to study exercise science
  • Jenna Peter, #9: Miami University-Hamilton to study nursing and then later become a nurse-practitioner
  • Aurora Wallace, #13: Wilmington College to play softball and study biology and life sciences on a pre-veterinary path

The Indians, coached by Sam Wilson, lost the Senior Night game to Oak Hills, 9-3. Wallace scored 2 runs, with 3 hits, 2 RBI and a HR and a stolen base to lead the Tribe.
