53rd Annual Ron Masanek Fairfield Invitational Wrestling Tournament Returns This Saturday

The Ron Masanek Invitational has become a staple on the Southwest Ohio wrestling calendar, bringing together elite programs and top competitors from across Ohio, Northern Kentucky, and Indiana. Fans can expect a full day of high-intensity action as wrestlers battle through a state-style tournament format.

The Fairfield Athletic Department is proud to host one of the area's premier wrestling events as the 53rd Annual Ron Masanek Fairfield Invitational Wrestling Tournament takes over the Fairfield Arena this Saturday, January 10, 2026.

Tournament Field
This year's tournament features 23 outstanding programs:
Anderson, Batavia, Butler, Campbell County, Colerain, Covington Catholic, Edgewood, Fairfield, Hamilton, Harrison, Indian Hill, Kings, Milford, Monroe, Northwest, Oak Hills, Princeton, Simon Kenton, Southridge, Sycamore, Talawanda, Upper Arlington, and Winton Woods.

 

Event Schedule – Saturday, January 10
  • 6:45 AM – Team check-in and computer corrections
  • 7:00–8:00 AM – Weigh-ins (Auxiliary Gym)
  • 8:00 AM – Coaches and seeding meeting (Hospitality Room)
  • 9:00 AM – Wrestling begins, including rat-tail matches for brackets over 16
Finals for 1st, 3rd, and 5th place will begin following the last round, after a short break to set up.
 

Tournament Format
  • 16-team double elimination bracket
  • Rat-tails used when more than 16 wrestlers enter a weight class
  • Top six wrestlers in each weight class are seeded using:
    • State, District, Fairfield, and Sectional placements
    • Current season record with a minimum of eight matches and a 50 percent or better winning percentage
  • A short seed meeting will be held after weigh-ins for head-to-head results from this season only. Coaches should bring proof.
 

Admissions
  • Adults: $10
  • Students and Seniors: $8
Tickets are available online at www.fairfieldindians.com/tickets or at the gate with cash.
 

Awards
  • Individual: Medals for the top six finishers in each weight class
  • Team: 1st and 2nd place trophies
  • Special Awards: Outstanding Wrestler and Most Pins in the Least Amount of Time (championship bracket only)
 

Arrival and Parking

Team Buses:
Teams should enter from Holden Blvd and use Door #6 located next to the tennis courts. Teams and coaching staffs will proceed to the Arena reception center and check in at the head scores table. All buses must park in the lower parking lot. Do not use the rear entrance via Gilmore Rd.
Spectators:
Spectators should use the parking lots on the left and right sides of the building and enter through Door #5 only. Handicapped parking is available in front of the building.

 

Tournament Operations
The tournament will be run similar to the OHSAA State Tournament. Only competing wrestlers, on-deck wrestlers, and designated coaches will be permitted on the arena floor. Two coaches per wrestler are allowed. After each match, wrestlers and coaches should exit through the south exit. The warm-up and staging area will be the Auxiliary Gym, and only wrestlers in uniform and designated coaches will be permitted in that area.
