Celebrating Homecoming Grand Marshal Coach Brenda Stieger

Fairfield softball coaching legend Brenda Stieger was honored twice last Friday, first as the grand marshal of the Fairfield homecoming parade, and then on the field after the first quarter of the Lakota West game.

Stieger, who took two grandsons out on the field with her, announced last spring that she was retiring from coaching after 28 years of leading the program.

She had 555 victories, putting her in the state's top 15 all-time in coaching wins.

Fairfield earned 14 district championships, four regional final appearances and four Greater Miami Conference championships under her guidance. Her family, friends and alumni of her teams joined her in the north endzone to join in the celebration of her career. For more photos of the day, go to fairfieldindians.com/galleries.
